Dr. Boaz Man, give our readers a brief intro about what you do and how you got started.
I grew up in Boca Raton and have been here since the age of 4. I've been an animal lover since childhood and began working with veterinarians at the age of 13. I have been a veterinarian for over 20 years and helping pets on a daily basis is my "dream job". I feel very lucky to have followed my passions and help provide care for the pets in my hometown!
What have been your biggest challenge(s) so far?
My biggest challenge is not being able to help every pet that walks in the door. For various reasons, pet parents face challenges and obstacles that prevent their pets from receiving the medical care that they need. Another challenge is ending a relationship with a pet when they age and become terminally ill, as the grieving and heartache is difficult for both the pet parent family and the veterinary team members.
What you’re proud of / what sets you apart / what gives you gratitude?
I'm proud to be a pet parent educator and frequently posts educational pet stories on Instagram (@bocamidtownevet), Facebook, and YouTube. I am proud to be an editorial board member of the company DVM360 that helps to provide continuing education for veterinary team members, proud to be fear free certified (which means they prioritize every pet's emotional wellness during vet visits) and also proud that my hospital is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, which means that we uphold the highest standards of veterinary care. I frequently lecture to fellow veterinarians about laser surgery as well as other various hot topics in veterinary medicine. The most rewarding part of my life is spending time with my wife, 3 children, and 2 dogs.
What do you think is most unique about the city/population of Boca Raton and working with this community?
Boca Raton is a thriving, pet friendly, and family oriented city that is a melting pot for various cultures.
