Lisa Runsdorf

Lisa, give our readers a brief intro about what you do and how you got started:

I am a personal trainer and have been working out since I was 19 years old. Throughout the years I have learned many different ways to train the body. Most recently I practice Functional Fitness. I believe that form and speed are more important than weight when we workout. It has always been a goal of mine to help others reach their own personal best and feel strong and confident. Currently I train clients both in my own home where I have a gym or in their home or neighborhood gyms. I am not the trainer that will come and run you through the machines. I can help you with that but my goal is always to teach clients how to work out using their own bodies and easily available fitness equipment.

What have been your biggest challenge(s) so far?

The biggest challenge I have faced to date is keeping my clients accountable. Often people don’t make exercise a priority. Everyone has busy schedules in today’s world but people need to remember that if they don’t put themselves first, no one else will. I keep records of my clients’ progress and love to be able to show them their growth.

What you’re proud of / what sets you apart / what gives you gratitude?

Every day that I wake up I hope that I can help someone achieve a goal they never thought they could. Whether it be strength or balance, endurance or tone, I am willing to do whatever it takes to help my clients feel their best. When a client says to me, “I never thought I could do this” my heart feels fabulous. I have seen clients go from not being able to do one pushup, to doing 15. And that type of growth is why I am a personal trainer.

What do you think is most unique about the city/population of Boca Raton and working with this community?

The most unique thing about this community is that it is a population that truly cares about their appearance and their fitness. This should make it easier to have clients but in fact there are too many shortcuts available. Working out is hard work but the rewards are immeasurable. I also find that it is a community where personal references mean a great deal which is why I maintain a standard of excellence that permits my clients to easily refer me to their friends with total confidence.
