Rabbi Moishe Denburg, give our readers a brief intro about what you do and how you got started.
I first came to Boca Raton in nineteen eighty nine. Together with my wife Rivkah we started classes and services in our small apartment. Over the last thirty four years, we have established five other Jewish centers with synagogues and Hebrew schools, adult education and a pre school and elementary school.
What have been your biggest challenge(s) so far?
While financials is always a challenge, I would say being able to provide the programming that draws people to our center. Once they are there I believe it offers the opportunity to experience first-hand the warmth, the energy and the the benefits of connecting to your traditions and heritage.
What you’re proud of / what sets you apart / what gives you gratitude?
We are certainly proud that for many of the people that have engaged with us we were able to provide a real and enjoyable connection to their Judaism. For many it was their first time connecting with authentic Judaism. For others who may have been absent from Jewish life because of an unpleasant experience we were able to re-engage them once again.
What do you think is most unique about the city/population of Boca Raton and working with this community?
We are such a diverse community and there's so many community offerings for every need and want. We are still growing and it will up to the providers to address the needs of the Jewish population.
