Yaira, give our readers a brief intro about what you do and how you got started.
I am a huge advocate of all the Jewish organizations and stores.I Got started after I had my 3 boys and decided to be more traditional and teach them mitzvahs. The goal was to donate and volunteer at all things Jewish.
What have been your biggest challenge(s) so far?
Getting the community together to commit to all things Jewish.
What you’re most proud of / what readers should know about your work / what sets you apart from others.
I moved to a town in Costa Rica where Judaism was not prevalent. Decided to host shabbats every week and host all the holidays at my house till we had over 100 people. I Reached out to the Rabbi in San Jose to bring us a rabbi and currently they are building a synagogue in Tamarindo. They are using our home for holidays till its done!
What does success mean to you / what gives you most gratitude?
Creating a Jewish community with the same goals. To now fight antisemitism and to give back to Israel.
What do you think is most unique about the city/population of Boca Raton and working with this community?
Boca Raton offers so many opportunities to volunteer, to donate and to be a part of Jewish organizations. A wide variety of ways to help. A great community to live in!
